Pawsitive was established by Simone Day to provide dog owners with the advice, help and support they need to train and improve their dog’s behaviour using kind, yet effective methods. After experiencing a behavioural problem with one of her own dogs, many years ago now, Simone discovered two things. The first was how difficult it can be to find the right advice to solve behaviour problems in dogs, as dog training clubs and vets often do not have knowledge or skills in this specialist area. The second was, having found a good dog behaviourist (and there weren’t many around at that time!), Simone realised just how much she enjoyed what she had learned from this experience and the fulfilment of working in this capacity.
Having developed a real interest in canine behaviour and training, Simone set out to learn more. She bought every book available, started attending courses and seminars and then made the decision to work towards getting proper academic qualifications, with a view to becoming a professional behaviourist herself. Simone’s studies culminated with her obtaining her Masters Degree with Distinction in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling from the University of Southampton.
As important as academic qualifications are, Simone knew it was essential that she also start building her practical skills base. After all, having all of the theoretical knowledge in the world is no good if you don’t know how to apply it! Having met the highly regarded behavioural trainer, Robert Alleyne, while studying for her Post-Graduate Diploma, Simone joined his training club in 2000 as a trainee instructor. A year later in 2001 Pawsitive was born and Simone began seeing clients for training and behaviour problems on a one-to-one basis. In 2006 Simone went on to set up Pawsitive’s Dog School, offering dog training classes modelled on the excellent format and methods that she learned from her friend and mentor, Robert.
Simone now works full time as a behavioural trainer helping owners and their dogs with everything from new puppy advice to pet dog obedience training to more serious behavioural problems. She is committed to providing a level of service and expertise that is second to none and takes great pride in helping owners achieve the results that they want with their dogs.
